Is anything more powerful than prayer for your spouse?
At least, is there anything humans can do that’s more powerful than praying for your spouse?
I know I need to pray for my husband daily, but sometimes I forget. This set of prayer prompts are for me and all the other wives out there.
(Don’t worry, single ladies–I have topics in my editorial calendar for y’all too!)
This set of prayer prompts focus on your spouse. While I am a woman married to a man, I have done my best to write gender-neutral prayer prompts to guide you in prayer for your spouse.

Why You Should Pray for Your Spouse
God calls all Christians to pray for each other.
Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. -Ephesians 6:18
For the sake of consistency, my blog writers and I all quote from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. However, this verse makes a bit more sense when looking at other translations.
Do all this in prayer, asking for God’s help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God’s people. -Good News Translation
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. -New International Version
When we’re called to pray for other Christians, this includes our spouses! Consider the greatest commandments.
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” -Matthew 22:36-40
Your closest neighbor is your spouse. Loving anyone should include prayer.
These prayer prompts are divided into five groups, based on your spouse’s relationships, roles, and responsibilities in life.

- Pray for your spouse by name.
- Thank God for each positive relationship in your spouse’s life.
- Pray for your spouse’s loved ones by name.
- Ask God that each relationship be loving and respectful, as well as mutually beneficial.
- If the relationship is currently negative or nonexistent, ask God to improve or build the relationship according to Her will.
Day 25) Pray for your spouse’s parents. If your spouse’s parents are deceased, pray for their aunts and uncles.
